newborn babies sleep lots. just not all at one time. count on your baby to sleep about 16 to 17 hours a day, waking regularly for feedings. Breast-fed babies want to devour each  to 3 hours, and method-fed infants commonly consume every three to four hours. this may be take a few getting used to for you, in particular if you factor in the time it takes to feed the infant and then assist her get back to sleep.
