Edamame

these green pods are surely cooked soybeans — and they flavor a lot better than they sound. filled with protein, calcium, folate and vitamins A and B, edamame may be scooped up by the handful as a snack (salt them lightly, and you will by no means pass over the chips), or tossed into pretty much whatever you are cooking, from soups, to pasta, to casseroles, to succotash, to stir-fry.
Tip: Edamame makes a tremendous gas-loose stand-in for beans.
